James Stewart Injury Update

Credit to Supercross.com

Yesterday was a brutal day for James Stewart. After winning Heat 2, Stewart had an ideal gate pick for the main. Unfortunately, he went down in one of the rhythm sections which was proving to be the danger zone for several riders. Stewart, however, was unfortunately the only one unable to get up on his own after his crash. The Asterix Medical crew took him off on the Mule and sources say that he was taken to a nearby hospital for inspection. Not to worry, though. San Manuel Racing reported this morning via Twitter, saying that Stewart was simply sore from the crash and he would be back for Toronto next week.

SanManuelRacing: All is good JS7 fans! Just a little sore from last nights crash. Back on the track in Toronto!!!

Too bad, he has ruined the sport..was hoping he was out for the season so we could enjoy it again.

    • Ruined the sport? How’s that? By being so talented and so fast that it makes others press hard just to hang with him? Stewart has stayed professional even in difficult situations. He has shown a real competitive spirit and true grit. He has my respect.

I’m with you Mx Mom – James is one fast rider. I saw the race in Daytona, unfortunately he fell but to watch him go from 20th to 9th place was something else. I wish he would slow down just a little for more control, but I am a big fan of Stewart, as I was for Ricky.

        03/20/2011 at 6:28 pm

      • My only problem with James Stewart is his fans.

        03/20/2011 at 9:22 pm

    • Your just jealous because Stewart is the fastest man on the planet. Your probably a Chad Reed fan.

James is one of the best entertainers to ever live he will always be remembered as that, so for some reason or another you don’t agree, maybe you should try getting into another sport like quad racing or making pleasure toys. so you could go F$#k yourself! :) get well James my family appreciates everything you do for your country and enjoy watching you race every weekend.

Do you have a problem with quad racers? Maybe you should try to keep up with a pro on one. Any dirt bike pro that has ever tried to mx a quad is surprised how much harder it is. By the way, most of the quad racers I know are stewart fans.

how has he ruined the sport?is it because everything hes done has changes the sport?yea his riding style is now being copied by every rider out there ….which makes everyone better!or because he has his own tv show and has brought more attention to the sport than ever?i mean i thought growth was a good thing?or because he has more talent in his pinky finger than most any other rider to ever live?he IS this sport! look at what he has done….r u mad cuz ur favorite rider isnt as good?well get used to it buddy! cuz theres a good chance this sport will never see another rider that has done as much for one sport ever!! or r uu mad cause hes an african american and u dont like that?he is the best and always will be the best ur probly a couch patatoe that cant even crank a motorcycle.so stay the hell off this page, this is where real racing fans come to talk.and anyone who is a racer or a fan knows u dont wish injury on another competitor, why would u want that?..oh i know cuz thats the only wway anyone else has a chance.who really wants to win knowing the only reason u won is because the better rider is hurt?doesnt that take away everything racing is about?ur the joke and its people like u that will ruin this sport so stay in ur own little hate world.just cuz ur jealous of the fact that hes the best and ur not dont hate…peace,oh and i bet a thousand says he smokes the field the rest of the season, hes also the toughest did i mention that?get a life loser.

“yea his riding style is now being copied by every rider out there ”

is that why most of the top riders are out with injuries?

Man, I just read the last entry I left on here regarding JS7. And I still think there were problems with the bike and tires that they never worked out. But now, Davi Millsaps is in position to take home second in the series on the same bike and tires. The last few races James crashed in, he just plain gave up. I especially got made when he crashed, took a seat on a tough block and threw his helmet off like a spoiled rich kid. The guy has made some contributions to the sport, but in the last two years, he has left his supporters with nothing to support. If he plans on racing next year, he should get some kind of ride based on bonuses for good RESULTS. This quitting, crashing and laying down on the side of the track like he is half dead just sucks. Also, while I am at it, MX vs. ATV Alive sucks in a major way as well. Seems like everything he has been involved with turns into doo doo. Maybe he should go back to #259 and start over again. Or just retire and quit spending his money like a drunken sailor.

thank god someone has had the balls to say that. he is a damn hazzard on the track. yes he is fast but he is stupid. just like impersonating a police officer, at a professional level that bullshit would have never been done. take kevin windham for instance, the man has everything going for him and he may not be the fastest but he will be in your face every week so if the rest of you need to remember motocross by a single rider it should not be james stewart. what about vilipoto or carmicheal od larocco or anyone that has been riding for years and still is. this kid doesnt have 5 years left so if thats the type of racing you people like get the idiot a bumper car with police lights on the top and he will be just fine untill then james stewart is number 0 in my book. its going to take him to paralizing someone else on the track before you realize that and thats bullshit.

      03/18/2012 at 4:04 pm

      • clark emery

That’s a lot of negative things to say. These incidents were spread out over a year or so and not overnight. The cop lights in the truck was a stupid thing to do. And I don’t think James would argue that. Stewart does seem to have a thing for slamming into Chad Reed, usually because he is out of control from flying through the whoops too fast. But from the comments I read here, not too many of you like Reed, either. The most skilled rider and best gentleman on the track is Kevin Windham. He should be the example for all the riders to follow on and off the track. But MX and SX are tough sports that call for tough guys when the need comes up. RC is my hero, but I have seen him take out many riders, and usually a little out of control over the years on his way to becoming the GOAT.

I am glad that he is not seriously injured! He is a great rider. They have way too many in the starting line up and someone is going to get seriously hurt. You can cut the number down by a few and still be competitive.

I’m a staunch Honda fan, but love all the racers for who they are. Personalities make the sport.

I’m glad James isn’t seriously hurt. He’s an exciting rider. It’s too bad riders get hurt. It would be nice to see all the guys battle the whole season injury-free.

I like Ryan Villipoto, but I was shocked to see Ryan not get back on his bike after being taken out in his heat race. He said afterward he wanted to return to the pits to concentrate on the LCQ. Well, we know how that went. Never give up. I’m sure Ryan will never feel the LCQ win is a given if he’s in it. Just glad he wasn’t injured, too.

    Go Honda.

James is a class act, and he is great for the sport. Even if you are not a fan of his, how can you not admire his riding? Unless of course you are a fan that has never ridden a motorcycle. The nickname “fastest man on the planet” didn’t come from nowhere.

Glad to hear James wasn’t seriously hurt, looked real bad when he got up & went down real fast holding his lower back. He’s a great racer & determined to win the title back. Wouldn’t be out there doing what he’s doing if he didn’t want to win or race. I’m a racer & I know exactly what he’s going through, especially after a year off for me with a wrist & arm break both last season. Go Bubba !

I am glad Stewart is ok. It’s sad people are more concerned about disliking someone than they are that he is ok. I wouldn’t wish harm on any of the riders… even the ones I dislike.

  12. Steve Jones

Even the fastest riders can get in over their head. You have to know when to twist the throttle and when to let off. His “over confidence” is getting him in trouble. His last crash took place because he was overly aggressive and wouldn’t wait for the crowd to clear. With his speed and a mid-pack clean start, he can still win. Calm down James.

    03/21/2011 at 1:55 pm

  13. 211's a bad mofo

selfreliant, you obviously don’t ride! You’re an idiot to wish injury on a rider.
    Get a life bro!

  14. Buzzer

Stewart is fastest and will be for a while, but he’s not the greatest…he has to compete in the nationals as well. His 08′ outdoor title was a walk with no real competition (Ferry, Short, Tedesco, Byrne?). Unfortunately, he’s let fame and MONEY get the best of him and he’s perceived and not being truly committed to the sport (a HUGE part of being a TRUE champion).

I only watch AMA to see James ride. I`m soooo glad he is ok. Thanks for putting it all on the line for our entertainment.

Stewart always puts on his best “limp show” after every fall…everytime. He’s cried wolf more than any other guy out there. If he was out of title contention completely, he’d claim that it was a season ending injury because he won’t be defeated fairly…he’ll quit first. Having the fastest lap times obviously doesn’t win championships. I’m sure Dungey, Reed, Villopoto and Canard can hang it out to the point of crashing and turn the fastest lap times also…who cares about that? Villopoto, Reed, Canard and Dungey have a brain on their head and they know how to win championships. Stewart doesn’t (most of the time) and he’s put alot of guys in danger over the years with moron moves. Listen, he’s good for the sport but don’t try to turn him into some sort of God because he ain’t. For as much winning as Stewart has done, the guy should have a list of championships as long as Carmichael. He doesn’t so wake up Stewart fans. Ron Lechein was a lengend with more talent than anybody…how many championships….1?

    03/23/2011 at 3:21 pm

    • James has won every season he has been healthy, Chad Reed and Ryan Dungey are pretenders to the throne since neither one has ever won a championship indoors with a healthy Stewart. The only way Reed can beat Stewart on the track is if he takes him out dirty as he did earlier tis season when Stewart was leading the race.Fact repeated Dundey or Reed would not have one championship between then if Stewart had been able to finish those seasons they won, another interesting item is that before Stewart came along Reed couldn’t beat Ricky Charmichael either, sorry Chad but you are only a middle of the packer in comparison to those two

Well I have to say I have been in the sport
a bit longer then most of you guys.
I was at New Berlin,NY with DeCoster and Hannah
    with ths snow flying.

From the past years of JS7, he is jerk and most of the time out of control! He has caused so many bad crashes, I.E. the time he hit R.C.
in the back, causing both of them to crash.
It is sicking to watch. J.S. is cocky
as he states “fastest man on the planet”
notice he only races the SX and not the MX
    series.

I would of love to see J.S. race with Bob Hannah, Bob would of hunted him down and tried
to break his leg. If you doubt what I say
watch the Motocross Chronicles. You will know how Bob liked to get even!

Anytime J.S. has a crash I jump up and down
saying this is great. Can’t they send a retarded bus (you know the short school bus)
to pick him up when he crashes instead of the medicis?

I bet Ricky Carmichael is glad he isn’t racing
    with a retarted J.S.

    LOL

james stewart has landed or crashed into every rider on the track. He crosses over in to your line on jumps. Thinks about only himself. watch the daytona crash when he comes back on the track what does he do? NOT even a look over his shoulder to see if someones coming over the jump. he rides straight out in the middle of the track. Stewart is a loose cannon and rides kamikaze style.

So glad Bubba is ok. I have been a fan of Bubba’s since he was #259 in the Lites, he was fast. When he came up in the big’s he was right up front with the best of them. I’m was a huge Jeremy fan when he retired, I was glad to see someone like Bubba. He is not the only one that causes crashes, some people on these boards need to pay more attention to the races so they Know what they are talking about. Go #7, Chad is a big cry baby, my husband was a fan until the year Bubba one in Vegas, Chad tried to take him out. They all want to win and they all will do what they have too.

james stewart IS NOT THE FASTEST MAN ON THE PLANET all the top riders have the ability to ride above there actual top speed for short periods of time and get away with it sometimes james stewart rides slightly above his true to speed which has and does cause him to crash again another season over and he is not the champ if he continues to ride as he does he has most likely seen his last sx title, HE IS NOT THE FASTEST MAN ON THE PLANET thats a joke i am not a chad reed fan but he did manage to beat the so called fastest man on the planet on a bike that cost 1 /4 of what mr fastest man on the planets bike cost think about it

Reality is that MX or Supercross is a very difficult sport. Many things have to be in place to win. Such as, raw talent, a good machine under you and the support not to mention time spent on the road in order to win. Anyone who races at any motion sport will agree. Reality is that James Stewart has made history by being the first African American to win at MX regardless of whether you like him or not. “Fastest man on the planet”? That’s a hard label to live up to. MX is a young mans sport and at some point, James is going to have to ask himself when is it time to quit racing. Reality is that James is having legal problems right now and all it takes is one small distraction and you will find yourself on the ground quickly unless you have your head straight. I hope he does the right thing and make some serious decisions before he injures himself again. Reality is that you have to give Chad Reed credit for his contribution to the sport and at his age, I think thats amazing. All Chad, James or any other pro wants is to win and in MX sometimes you have to step on some toes to do it. I raced MX for ten years 70′ to 80′, at the conception of the sport and served my country honorably and saw MX progress over the years to what it has become today and every time I see two racers go at it like Chad and James have, it always sends a bad vibe but thats the nature of the beast and trust me when I tell you that there will always be rivalries and new and up and coming faster riders than what we are seeing today. I know what your saying….what does this ” Mr. Know it all ” really know. Well, one thing for shure, don’t judge James, Chad, or me until you’ve walked a mile in our boots.

I agree with the first poster. James has ruined the sport. He does not care about his fans. Two years ago in Toronto he had someone grab his hat when he was signing autographs. He has a huge meltdown and hissy fit. He stormed off. There were tons of kids waiting to see him and to see the disappointment on thier faces we so sad. It is ironis that James just stepped out of him million dollar motorhome and get all bent up over a hat that was probably free. He sould have had a box of hats and signed them for the little one. I hope the next crash is a career ender for you. the sooner the better

    03/18/2012 at 5:12 am

    • clark emery

I agree, Stewart shouldn’t have got so mad about his hat being taken. But put yourself in his position. There is a lot to do on race day. Signing autographs right in the middle of it is probably the last thing most riders want to deal with between practices. And to have some punk grab your hat, no matter it’s value, is just rude and disrespectful. That would probably piss you off too. Yes, the fans are what make these guys superstars and all that crap, but snatching a hat off your sweaty head when you’re trying to be nice to a huge line of kids and parents is a lame move. What is he supposed to say? “Thanks for stealing the hat off my head?”

I just wish James would get rid of those awful Pirelli tires. I would say half his crashes this year involved him losing traction, sliding from one side of the track into something unmovable like a tough block. Same goes for Davi Millsaps. Oh well, it’s just the Supercross championship and millions of dollars at stake, right Mr. Gibbs?
